Siem Reap, home to Angkor Wat, is renowned for its ancient temple ruins. Our journey starts at Angkor Thom, a 10th-century wonder by King Jayavarman VII. We enter through the South Gate, guarded by statues depicting gods and devils in a tugging match, echoing the "Churning Sea of Milk" bas-relief. Continuing our exploration, we arrive at the mesmerizing Bayon Temple, its 49 towers adorned by 172 serene faces, marking the center of Angkor Thom. A short stop at the Royal Enclosure reveals the intricately detailed Elephant Terrace, while nearby stands the enigmatic Terrace of the Leper King, featuring a sculpture of the Hindu god Yama. Our journey takes us to the 12th-century Preah Khan temple, a unique site of religious tolerance where Buddhism, ancestor worship, and Hindu gods coexist. Concluding our afternoon is the jungle-engulfed Ta Prohm, where nature intertwines with architecture, creating a captivating fusion.
