DAY 1 | ARRIVAL IN KUNMING

Upon arrival at Kunming Changshui International Airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel for check-in. The remainder of the day is free at leisure to relax or begin exploring the "City of Eternal Spring."

DAY 2 | KUNMING TO DALI

Our journey begins today with a visit to the Stone Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its extraordinary landscape of towering limestone formations. Known locally as Shilin, these dramatic stone pillars were formed over 270 million years ago through natural erosion, creating a surreal maze of pinnacles, narrow pathways, and hidden grottoes. As we explore this remarkable geological wonder, we gain insight into both the region's natural history and the legends and folklore associated with this iconic site. The Stone Forest is one of Yunnan Province's most celebrated attractions, offering spectacular scenery and excellent photo opportunities. After the visit, we transferred to Kunming Railway Station to board a high-speed train to Dali. Sit back and enjoy views of Yunnan's picturesque countryside along the way. Upon arrival in Dali, we are met and transferred to our hotel for check-in. The evening is at leisure.

DAY 3 | DALI

Today brings more spectacular natural scenery and cultural discoveries. After breakfast, we begin with a visit to Erhai Lake, a breathtaking highland lake covering approximately 97 square miles and often referred to as the "Pearl of the Plateau." Named for its distinctive ear-like shape, Erhai is the second-largest highland lake in China. Surrounded by the majestic Cangshan Mountains, its calm, crystal-clear waters provide a magnificent backdrop to the historic city of Dali. During our visit, we enjoyed a scenic cruise on the lake, taking in beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and traditional lakeside villages. Next, we visit the Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple, one of Yunnan's most iconic landmarks. This impressive complex features three ancient pagodas arranged in a triangular formation against the dramatic backdrop of the Cangshan range. Built during the 9th and 10th centuries, the centerpiece, Qianxun Pagoda, rises nearly 229 feet and is considered one of the tallest and most elegant pagodas in China. Our journey continues to Dali Ancient Town, home to the Bai ethnic minority. Here, we gain insight into the Bai people's rich traditions and culture as we stroll through charming streets lined with traditional houses with distinctive grey-green tiled roofs. Along the way, we pass workshops, temples, schools, and churches, while the ancient city walls and surrounding mountain scenery add to the town's unique charm.

DAY 4 | DALI TO SHANGRI-LA

Today's journey offers a rich blend of cultural experiences and scenic landscapes. After breakfast, we begin with a visit to Xizhou Village, situated on fertile land between beautiful Erhai Lake and the Cangshan Mountains. Once an important stop along the ancient Southern Silk Road, Xizhou prospered through the trade of tea and marble. Today, it remains a vibrant cultural center of the Bai ethnic minority and is home to one of the largest collections of traditional Bai-style residences. During our visit, we enjoyed the Bai people's traditional Three-Course Tea Ceremony, a cultural performance that reflects the community's hospitality and customs. Next, we explore the Yan Family Compound, an outstanding example of Bai residential architecture. Over generations, Bai artisans refined their building techniques, blending elements of traditional Chinese design with their own distinctive artistic style. The elegant courtyards and intricate decorative details offer insight into the region's architectural heritage. We then continue to Zhoucheng Village, known for its long-standing tradition of tie-dye and batik craftsmanship. Here we participate in a hands-on workshop and learn about this ancient textile art, which originated more than a thousand years ago in China's central plains and remains an important cultural tradition among the Bai people. After the cultural visits, we drive approximately four hours to Shangri-La, enjoying scenic views along the way. In the evening, we visit Dukezong Old Town, where cobblestone streets, traditional Tibetan-style wooden houses, and lively markets reflect the region's unique Tibetan heritage.

DAY 5 | SHANGRI-LA

The spiritual traditions and natural beauty of Shangri-La shape today's exploration. After breakfast, we visit Songzanlin Monastery, the largest Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Yunnan. Built in 1679 at the foot of Foping Mountain, this magnificent complex is often referred to as the "Little Potala Palace" because it resembles the famed palace in Lhasa. The monastery consists of two main lamaseries, Zhacang and Jikang, and is home to more than 700 monks and lamas. As we explore the peaceful grounds, we admire richly decorated halls, golden Buddha statues, and colorful murals that reflect Tibetan Buddhist traditions. In the afternoon, we gain insight into daily Tibetan life with a visit to a local Tibetan family home, offering a glimpse into the region's customs and hospitality. We then continue to Pudacuo National Park, China's first national park and part of the UNESCO-listed Three Parallel Rivers area. Covering more than 500 square miles, the park features pristine alpine landscapes, dense forests, and crystal-clear lakes. Among its highlights is the beautiful Bita Lake, often called the "Pearl of the Plateau," with picturesque Mandala Island at its center. After exploring the park's spectacular scenery, we return to Shangri-La for the evening.

DAY 6 | SHANGRI-LA TO LIJIANG

Today, we visit one of Yunnan's most spectacular natural wonders. After breakfast, we drive to Tiger Leaping Gorge, a highlight of any journey through Yunnan Province. As we approach the site, the canyon's dramatic scale becomes immediately evident. Carved by the powerful Yangtze River, Tiger Leaping Gorge is considered one of the deepest and most impressive river gorges in the world. Here, the river surges through a narrow channel between towering cliffs, creating a breathtaking display of nature's power. According to local legend, the gorge earned its name when a hunted tiger escaped by leaping across the narrowest section of the river, using a large rock in the middle as a stepping stone. Today, the gorge is a popular destination for hikers and photographers, drawn by its steep trails, rugged cliffs, and spectacular scenery. After taking time to admire the dramatic landscapes and panoramic views, we continue our journey with a 1.5-hour drive to Lijiang. Upon arrival, we check in at our hotel.

Day 7 | Lijiang

Today's exploration combines magnificent mountain scenery with rich cultural heritage. After breakfast, we travel to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, a spectacular mountain range that forms part of the Yulong Mountains and dominates Lijiang's skyline. Its highest peak, Shanzidou, rises to 18,360 feet and remains snow-capped year-round, creating one of the most breathtaking alpine landscapes in southwestern China. Next, we enjoy the impressive Impression Lijiang Show, an extraordinary outdoor cultural performance that brings to life the history and traditions of Lijiang's ancient Dongba culture. Set against the dramatic backdrop of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, performers from nearby villages present a captivating spectacle of music, dance, colorful traditional costumes, and even horseback performances. Directed by renowned filmmaker Zhang Yimou, the show is celebrated for its grand scale and stunning natural setting. We then continue to Blue Moon Valley, a beautiful natural attraction located at the foot of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Fed by mineral-rich glacial meltwater, its series of pools and cascading waterfalls shimmer in striking turquoise hues, creating a serene and picturesque landscape. Our journey continues to Baisha Old Town, the historic birthplace of the ancient Mu clan, rulers of the Naxi people. Founded during the Tang Dynasty (618–907 AD) and flourishing during the Song and Yuan periods, Baisha once served as the political, economic, and cultural center of the Lijiang region.

DAY 8 | LIJIANG TO XISHUANGBANNA

After breakfast, enjoy free time at leisure until it is time to transfer to the airport for your flight to Xishuangbanna. Located in southern Yunnan Province, near the borders with Laos and Myanmar, Xishuangbanna is known for its lush tropical landscapes, rich biodiversity, and vibrant ethnic cultures, particularly those of the Dai people. Unlike much of China, the region enjoys a warm tropical climate and is famed for its rainforests, tea plantations, and colorful festivals. Upon arrival, we transfer to the hotel, then visit the Dai Ethnic Garden. Nestled among rivers and lakes and surrounded by lush tropical greenery, this cultural attraction showcases the traditional lifestyle of the Dai ethnic minority through five well-preserved natural villages. During our visit, we gained insight into Dai culture through distinctive architecture, traditional ceremonies at Yingbin Square, religious sites, and handicrafts such as pottery and brocade weaving.

DAY 9 | XISHUANGBANNA

Today's excursion highlights the remarkable biodiversity and tropical landscapes of Xishuangbanna. After breakfast, we visit the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden, the largest and most diverse botanical garden in China. The garden covers approximately 2,780 acres and is surrounded by more than 60,000 acres of protected tropical rainforest. Dedicated to the preservation of tropical plants and biodiversity, the garden cultivates hundreds of thousands of plant species from China and around the world within carefully designed thematic zones. As we explore the lush grounds, we gain insight into the region's rich botanical heritage and ongoing conservation efforts. Next, we continue to Wild Elephant Valley, a vast nature reserve covering more than 91,000 acres and one of the most important wildlife conservation areas in the region. The park is best known as a habitat for Asia's endangered wild elephants, as well as many other rare species, including wild buffalo, green peafowl, macaques, and numerous protected birds and animals. In addition to its wildlife, the reserve is renowned for its pristine tropical rainforest scenery, offering visitors a unique opportunity to experience one of China's most biologically diverse ecosystems.

DAY 10 | XISHUANGBANNA TO LUANG PRABANG

After breakfast, we transfer to the railway station to board the high-speed train to Luang Prabang, Laos. Our guide will assist with the necessary immigration and customs procedures as we cross the border between the two countries. The train is scheduled to depart at 11:30 am and arrive in Luang Prabang at 3:54 pm. Upon arrival, we check in at our hotel.

DAY 11 | LUANG PRABANG CITY TOUR

Today, we explore the cultural and historical treasures of Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage city known for its beautifully preserved temples and rich traditions. Our day begins with a visit to the Royal Palace Museum, which offers an excellent introduction to the history, culture, and royal heritage of this ancient capital. We then stroll through quiet back lanes to the charming Heuan Chan Heritage House, a beautifully restored traditional residence that showcases historical artifacts and elegant Lao architecture. Here we also learn about its historical connection to the former Royal Palace while enjoying a refreshing iced tea in the peaceful garden setting. Continuing along the peninsula, we visit Wat Xiengthong, one of the most important and visually striking temples in Laos. With its sweeping roof extending almost to the ground, the temple is considered a masterpiece of classical Luang Prabang temple architecture. We take time to explore the serene temple grounds before crossing the road to Wat Khili, where the temple's beautifully preserved traditional library houses a fascinating photographic exhibition on Buddhist heritage. Our final visit today is the Traditional Arts and Ethnology Centre, an excellent museum that provides valuable insight into the diverse ethnic groups and cultural traditions of Laos.

Day 12 | Luang Prabang - Alms Giving - Pakbeng (Shompoo Cruise)

Early this morning, you may choose to rise around 5:30 am to witness and, if you wish, participate in "Tak Bat," the traditional alms-giving ceremony. This centuries-old ritual is a deeply spiritual practice in Luang Prabang, where local residents respectfully offer food to monks as they walk silently through the streets at dawn. It remains one of the city's most authentic cultural traditions. After breakfast, we transfer to the pier to board the Shompoo Cruise for a scenic journey upstream along the Mekong River toward the Thai border. During the cruise, we stop to visit the renowned Pak Ou Caves, a sacred site overlooking the Mekong where pilgrims have placed thousands of Buddha statues over the centuries. Lunch will be served on board as we continue our relaxing cruise through the picturesque river landscapes. By early evening, we arrive in the riverside town of Pakbeng and transfer to our hotel for the night.

DAY 13 | PAKBENG - HUAY XAY - CHIANG RAI

This morning, re-board the Shompoo Cruise for a 7:00 am departure as we continue our journey upstream along the Mekong River toward Houay Xay, the border town between Laos and Thailand. Along the way, we stop to visit a small local village on the Mekong, offering a glimpse into the traditional lifestyle of riverside communities. Lunch is served on board as we cruise through the scenic landscapes of northern Laos. In the afternoon, enjoy a unique cultural experience learning how to prepare a refreshing butterfly pea flower drink, a traditional herbal beverage popular in the region. By late afternoon, the cruise arrives in Houay Xay. Upon arrival, we transfer to the border for immigration formalities, then continue our journey into Thailand and onward to Chiang Rai for hotel check-in.

DAY 14 | CHIANG RAI

Today's tour introduces some of Chiang Rai's most iconic cultural landmarks. After breakfast, we begin with a visit to the extraordinary Wat Rong Khun, widely known as the White Temple. This striking contemporary temple is the lifetime artistic project of renowned Thai artist Chalermchai Kositpipat. Blending traditional Thai temple architecture with modern artistic expression, the dazzling white structure is adorned with thousands of mirrored glass panels that reflect the sunlight, creating a spectacular visual effect. We then visit the historic Wat Phra Singh, home to a revered replica of the Phra Singh Buddha, one of Thailand's most sacred Buddha images. The original statue was later moved to Chiang Mai, but the temple remains an important religious site for local worshippers. Our journey continues to Wat Phra Kaew, where the famed Emerald Buddha was discovered in the 13th century before eventually being enshrined in Bangkok's Grand Palace. The temple now houses a beautiful replica of this revered image. After exploring Chiang Rai's spiritual and artistic heritage, we enjoy a leisurely trishaw ride through the town, offering a charming glimpse of local life before returning to the hotel.

DAY 16 | THAI COOKING EXPERIENCE

This morning, enjoy a hands-on Thai cooking experience that offers a delicious introduction to the flavors and traditions of northern Thai cuisine. The day begins with a visit to a local market, where you explore stalls filled with fresh produce, aromatic herbs, and exotic ingredients commonly used in Thai cooking. From the market, continue to an organic farm, where you learn about locally grown vegetables, herbs, and free-range eggs used in authentic Thai dishes. The cooking class takes place in a charming traditional Thai pavilion, where expert instructors guide you through the preparation of several classic dishes. Begin with an introduction to Thai rice preparation, including the ever-popular sticky rice. Can I add airfare to the land package?
Yes, you can add airfare to a package. Let us know at the time of your reservation. Please note pricing and availability is always subject to change Prior to ticket issuance.
Can I change my reservation if I've made a mistake?
There is a $75 change fee (per person, per change) for any changes made to a reservation after it has been confirmed.  Any passenger name change made to a booking reservation after it has been confirmed will result in a $100 per person per name change fee and is subject to availability, additional airline change, and/or cancellation fees. Additional fees may apply.  For more details, please contact us.
Can I extend or modify my trip?
We will do our best to accommodate your request. Any modification must be arranged before the deposit is made and subject to availability.
Can I opt-out of certain activities on the trip?
While any unused portion of the trip is non-refundable, you can opt-out of certain included activities if you do not wish to participate in them. Please be sure to notify us prior to your departure date and notify your tour guide upon arrival. You will be responsible for any expenses incurred should you deviate from the tour during the scheduled tour itinerary. If you choose to deviate from the tour group on a day we are transiting from one city to another. You will also be responsible for your own transportation and expenses incurred. 
Can I request adjoining rooms?
We can request adjoining rooms, however, requests cannot be guaranteed as it is based on hotel availability.
Can I select my seats on my flight during the booking process?
Seat assignments on your flight can be done directly via the airline. You can either select your seats at the airline check-in counter on the day of your flight, or after we issue your tickets, you may call the airline directly and pay the fee for pre-assign seats.
Can we book a triple room?
Triple rooms are available upon request for select tours. Please note hotels will provide a rollaway bed for the third traveler in a double room.

While we’re happy to assist in communicating special meal requests to airlines, hotels, and restaurants, please note that these requests are not guaranteed. If you have any dietary preferences or allergies, please notify us at the time of booking so that we can inform our tour guides accordingly. However, meal alternatives depend on the restaurant’s availability and are subject to confirmation. For those with strict dietary needs, we recommend bringing pre-packaged food options to ensure a comfortable dining experience throughout your trip.
My outbound flight has been cancelled by the airline; what do I do now?
If your flight has been canceled, please liaise with the airline directly to book the next available flight. If, for any reason, you are unhappy with the alternate flight offered by the airline and decide to book a new outbound flight on your own, please note that the original return flight(s) will automatically be canceled if you are a no-show on your original outbound flight.
My package includes the arrival transfer, how do I know when/where to meet up with my driver?
Information on how /where to meet up with your driver is included in your travel documents. On arrival at the airport, please collect your luggage, make your way through customs, and enter the arrivals hall, where the driver will be waiting for you. Should luggage be very slow coming through, or should you have any issues with damaged or lost luggage, please make sure that you complete the necessary documentation within the luggage area. ONE MEMBER of the party should go through customs and into the arrivals hall to advise the driver of the delay. Please note that this person will not be allowed access back into the luggage area. You could also contact our local representative. Extra costs may apply if meeting your driver is delayed more than one hour following your scheduled flight arrival time.  
What are the visa requirements?
Visa requirements for each destination are indicated in our Essential Travel Information on our website. It is the responsibility of travelers to obtain proper visas in a timely manner prior to the trip departure date.  
What does Land Only means?
Land-only is a package tour without International and local airfare.
What does per person, double occupancy mean?
Per person, double occupancy means the price each guest pays when sharing a room.
What if I miss my flight or my flight is delayed, and I miss the beginning of my trip?
If your flight is delayed or you miss your flight, please notify us or our local representative (contact information is included in your travel documents) as soon as possible so we may inform our local representative of your updated arrival. Additional costs for airport transfer service may apply if you arrive later than the scheduled arrival date/time.  If you arrive later in the itinerary and the group has moved to a different destination, it will be your responsibility to catch up and meet the group at that destination.  We will provide you with the most up-to-date meeting information.  Please note that Globotours cannot reimburse you for any unused portion of the trip.

What is single supplement surcharge?
Single supplement is the additional cost to occupy the room alone.
What is your payment schedule?
Most packages require a non-refundable deposit, as indicated in the program to confirm the reservation, which will be applied towards the cost of your package. Your account balance is due 75-90 days prior to the trip departure date. Certain tours may require an additional non-refundable airline deposit at the time of booking. This is indicated during the booking process. More information can be found in our Terms and Conditions.  
What level of physical fitness is required for the tour?
Depending on the program, expect a decent amount of walking and an occasional flight of stairs or some steps. We recommend you carefully consider your ability to meet the tour's physical demands. If you have any questions or concerns about your ability to meet the trip's requirements, we urge you to consult your medical practitioner.
What types of payments do you accept?
We accept Mastercard and Visa, bank transfers, and personal checks. When paying your balance by personal check, all checks must be received in full prior to the due date. When do I receive my travel documents and what it will include?
Travel documents will be mailed or e-mailed to you approximately 21 days prior to the trip departure date. It usually takes about 7 – 10 business days. You may access your booking confirmation page anytime by logging into your Globotours account on our website.
