Itinerary

DAY 1 | ARRIVAL IN KOTA KINABALU / NIGHT MARKET

Welcome to Borneo! Upon arrival at Kota Kinabalu International Airport, meet your driver and enjoy a comfortable transfer to your hotel. After settling in, visit the vibrant Kota Kinabalu Night Market for an evening visit. Immerse yourself in the local culture as your guide introduces you to Sabah's sights, sounds, and flavors. Browse stalls brimming with aromatic spices, fresh tropical fruits, colorful vegetables, and handmade souvenirs. Cap off the evening with a delicious dinner before returning to the hotel to rest and recharge for the adventures ahead.

DAY 2 | TUNKU ABDUL RAHMAN MARINE PARK (MAMUTIK ISLAND)

Enjoy a relaxing day of sun, sea, and sand at one of the beautiful islands within Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park. This morning, transfer to the marina jetty for a scenic 30-minute boat ride to Mamutik Island. Upon arrival, the day is yours to enjoy at leisure. Swim or snorkel in crystal-clear waters teeming with vibrant coral reefs and colorful tropical fish, or unwind on the beach and take in the serene island surroundings. A local lunch will be served on the island. Afterward, continue to relax or take a refreshing dip before your return journey. In the mid-afternoon, depart by boat back to Kota Kinabalu and transfer to your hotel.

Remark: Scheduled boat departure is at 08:15 hrs. Guests are requested to arrive at the marina jetty no later than 08:00 hrs.

DAY 3 | KOTA KINABALU / KINABALU GEOPARK (UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE)

This morning, embark on a scenic two-hour drive to the foothills of Mount Kinabalu, Malaysia's tallest peak and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. En route, stop at the charming Pekan Nabalu market—perfect for stretching your legs, sampling seasonal tropical fruits, and browsing local handicrafts. Enjoy stunning views and photo opportunities of the majestic Mount Kinabalu on a clear day. Upon arrival at Kinabalu Park Headquarters, explore the Kinabalu Geopark Gallery and its fascinating exhibits on the region's unique geological and ecological features. Stroll through the Botanical Garden, home to a rich collection of montane flora. Weather permitting, enjoy a guided nature walk along one of the park's scenic trails, where you'll experience the crisp mountain air and the biodiversity of this cool highland forest. In the afternoon, return to Kota Kinabalu and enjoy a well-deserved rest in preparation for the next day's adventure.

DAY 4 | KOTA KINABALU / SANDAKAN / SUKAU RAINFOREST LODGE

Rise early for a flight from Kota Kinabalu to Sandakan, located on the northeast coast of Borneo. Upon arrival, head straight to the world-renowned Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, where you will gain insight into the center's important conservation work through a short video presentation. Then, walk through the lush forest to the feeding platform to witness orangutans—and possibly other primates—in their natural environment. Don't miss the chance to observe the playful juveniles in the enclosed nursery, where they learn the skills needed for survival in the wild. After lunch, embark on a scenic 2.5-hour boat journey up the Kinabatangan River, Sabah's longest waterway, to the Sukau Rainforest Lodge. This journey offers your first glimpse of the rich riverine ecosystem teeming with wildlife. Upon arrival and check-in, set out on a late afternoon river cruise in search of Borneo's iconic wildlife, such as proboscis monkeys, hornbills, macaques, and, if you are lucky, even pygmy elephants. In the evening, you may opt for an optional night river cruise to spot nocturnal creatures under the starlit canopy. Return to the lodge for a delicious dinner at Melapi Restaurant, followed by a nature talk and slide presentation led by a resident naturalist.

DAY 5 | SUKAU RAINFOREST LODGE - KINABATANGAN RIVER & GOMANTONG CAVES

Wake up to the sounds of the rainforest and begin your day with an early morning river cruise along the Kinabatangan River to Kelenanap Oxbow Lake. Keep watch for hornbills, kingfishers, and, with some luck, crocodiles or wild orangutans along the riverbanks. Return to the lodge for breakfast, followed by a guided nature walk along the Hornbill and Attenborough Boardwalks with the lodge’s naturalist. The late morning and early afternoon are at leisure. After lunch, relax by the dip pool or enjoy the tranquil river surroundings. Later, visit the Ape Gallery for an informative Ape Talk on Borneo’s primates and conservation efforts. In the mid-afternoon, proceed to the Gomantong Caves, a remarkable limestone cave system known for its swiftlet nests. Explore the main chamber and, weather permitting, witness the dramatic bat exodus at dusk. Return to the lodge for dinner at Melapi Restaurant and a peaceful evening in the rainforest.

Note: Gomantong Caves are home to a variety of insects and invertebrates, including cockroaches and centipedes, which are a natural part of the cave ecosystem. Guests are advised to wear closed-toe shoes and remain on designated walkways. While these creatures are harmless, please be prepared for their presence during the visit.

DAY 6 | SUKAU RAINFOREST LODGE / LAHAD DATU / UTAN RAINFOREST LODGE

Wake up to another day of adventure and enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the lodge. Then, set off on a 2-hour overland journey to Lahad Datu for refreshments and check-in at the tour office. Continue with a scenic 2.5-hour drive to Utan Rainforest Lodge, a hidden eco-retreat nestled deep within the Virgin Jungle Reserve (VJR) of Sungai Kapur. The lodge features 14 air-conditioned rooms with en-suite bathrooms and heated showers, offering comfort in the heart of the rainforest. Shared facilities include a covered restaurant with an open deck, a refreshing dip pool, a cozy bar, and a gift corner. Upon arrival, you will receive a warm welcome and a briefing on the lodge facilities, followed by a delightful lunch and check-in. In the afternoon, begin exploring the pristine wilderness of the Sungai Kapur VJR with a guided walk along the Kapur Trail, where a guide will introduce you to the region's unique flora and fauna. After a short tea break, head out for a late afternoon river cruise, watching wildlife along the riverbanks and enjoying a spectacular sunset over the estuary. Favorable weather may treat you to a magical display of fireflies illuminating the riverside like twinkling stars. Return to the lodge for a delicious dinner, then wrap up the day with an exciting night safari drive, offering the rare chance to spot nocturnal creatures in their natural habitat.

DAY 7 | UTAN RAINFOREST LODGE

Awakened to the melodic calls of gibbons and the flutter of hornbills echoing through the rainforest canopy. After a light bite, set out on a morning nature hike, venturing to the Cuckoo Hide, a prime birdwatching spot. With luck and patience, you may glimpse Borneo's endemic cuckoos and other vibrant bird life in their natural habitat. Return to the lodge to freshen up and enjoy a hearty breakfast surrounded by lush greenery. If weather and sea conditions allow, embark on a coastal river cruise, gliding along the Segama River and its mangrove forests. Stay alert for sightings of flying foxes, soaring eagles, and, with a bit of luck, playful dolphins breaching the surface. After the cruise, return to the lodge for a well-deserved rest before indulging in a delicious lunch. Spend the early afternoon browsing the information gallery, pick up keepsakes at the gift corner, enjoy premium beverages at the restaurant, or cool off in the dip pool. In the late afternoon, gear up with your leech socks and set out on a jungle trek. Choose from a gentle stroll along the lodge's marked trails or a more adventurous route deeper into the wild, and just let your guide know your preference. As dusk settles, savor a delectable dinner before heading out on a guided night walk. Let the forest reveal its nocturnal secrets as you search for elusive creatures such as civets, leopard cats, mouse deer, and moon rats that thrive in the darkness. Return to the comfort of the lodge for a restful night amid the symphony of the rainforest.

DAY 8 | UTAN RAINFOREST LODGE / LAHAD DATU / KOTA KINABALU

Wake up to the soothing sounds of the rainforest and enjoy a hearty breakfast surrounded by nature. Spend your final morning at leisure, perhaps take a refreshing dip in the pool, enjoy a tropical drink, or relax and soak in the peaceful jungle atmosphere one last time. After lunch, check out and transfer back to Lahad Datu Airport for your late afternoon flight to Kota Kinabalu. Upon arrival, proceed to Jesselton Point Ferry Terminal and board a speedboat transfer across the turquoise waters to your tropical island retreat. Nestled within the protected marine sanctuary of Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park, your resort offers a serene escape along Borneo’s stunning coastline.

DAY 10 | KOTA KINABALU TO KUALA LUMPUR

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Kuala Lumpur. Upon arrival, enjoy a private transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is free at leisure. Spend your free afternoon at the iconic Central Market, a vibrant cultural landmark in a striking Art déco building. Browse a colorful array of local crafts, artisan boutiques, galleries, and occasional live performances—a true celebration of Malaysia's creative spirit. Alternatively, wander through the bustling streets of Chinatown in the evening, where heritage shop-houses, street food, and lively energy to create a charming local atmosphere.

FAQs

Can I add airfare to the land package?
Yes, you can add airfare to a package. Let us know at the time of your reservation. Please note pricing and availability is always subject to change Prior to ticket issuance.
Can I change my reservation if I've made a mistake?
There is a $75 change fee (per person, per change) for any changes made to a reservation after it has been confirmed.  Any passenger name change made to a booking reservation after it has been confirmed will result in a $100 per person per name change fee and is subject to availability, additional airline change, and/or cancellation fees. Additional fees may apply.  For more details, please contact us.
Can I extend or modify my trip?
We will do our best to accommodate your request. Any modification must be arranged before the deposit is made and subject to availability.
Can I opt-out of certain activities on the trip?
While any unused portion of the trip is non-refundable, you can opt-out of certain included activities if you do not wish to participate in them. Please be sure to notify us prior to your departure date and notify your tour guide upon arrival. You will be responsible for any expenses incurred should you deviate from the tour during the scheduled tour itinerary. If you choose to deviate from the tour group on a day we are transiting from one city to another. You will also be responsible for your own transportation and expenses incurred. 
Can I request adjoining rooms?
We can request adjoining rooms, however, requests cannot be guaranteed as it is based on hotel availability.
Can I select my seats on my flight during the booking process?
Seat assignments on your flight can be done directly via the airline. You can either select your seats at the airline check-in counter on the day of your flight, or after we issue your tickets, you may call the airline directly and pay the fee for pre-assign seats.
Can we book a triple room?
Triple rooms are available upon request for select tours. Please note hotels will provide a rollaway bed for the third traveler in a double room. 
Do you offer and/or suggest travel insurance?
We recommend you purchase a travel protection plan to help protect you and your travel investment against the unexpected.

How much time will I get to myself?
Each program is different. Whenever possible, we offer to modify the program to fit your requirements.
I am a solo traveler, can you match me with other solo travelers on my tour?
For privacy reasons, we do not pair solo travelers with one another.  A single supplement fee will apply for solo travelers.
I have special dietary requirements, can you accommodate them?
Meals during your tour will feature local cuisine and menus, offering you an authentic taste of the destination. While we’re happy to assist in communicating special meal requests to airlines, hotels, and restaurants, please note that these requests are not guaranteed. If you have any dietary preferences or allergies, please notify us at the time of booking so that we can inform our tour guides accordingly. However, meal alternatives depend on the restaurant’s availability and are subject to confirmation. For those with strict dietary needs, we recommend bringing pre-packaged food options to ensure a comfortable dining experience throughout your trip.
My outbound flight has been cancelled by the airline; what do I do now?
If your flight has been canceled, please liaise with the airline directly to book the next available flight. If, for any reason, you are unhappy with the alternate flight offered by the airline and decide to book a new outbound flight on your own, please note that the original return flight(s) will automatically be canceled if you are a no-show on your original outbound flight.
My package includes the arrival transfer, how do I know when/where to meet up with my driver?
Information on how /where to meet up with your driver is included in your travel documents. On arrival at the airport, please collect your luggage, make your way through customs, and enter the arrivals hall, where the driver will be waiting for you. Should luggage be very slow coming through, or should you have any issues with damaged or lost luggage, please make sure that you complete the necessary documentation within the luggage area. ONE MEMBER of the party should go through customs and into the arrivals hall to advise the driver of the delay. Please note that this person will not be allowed access back into the luggage area. You could also contact our local representative. Extra costs may apply if meeting your driver is delayed more than one hour following your scheduled flight arrival time.  
What are the visa requirements?
Visa requirements for each destination are indicated in our Essential Travel Information on our website. Information is also available at the US Department of State website at https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/international-travel.html. It is the responsibility of travelers to obtain proper visas in a timely manner prior to the trip departure date.  
What does Land Only means?
Land-only is a package tour without International and local airfare.
What does per person, double occupancy mean?
Per person, double occupancy means the price each guest pays when sharing a room.
What if I miss my flight or my flight is delayed, and I miss the beginning of my trip?
If your flight is delayed or you miss your flight, please notify us or our local representative (contact information is included in your travel documents) as soon as possible so we may inform our local representative of your updated arrival. Additional costs for airport transfer service may apply if you arrive later than the scheduled arrival date/time.  If you arrive later in the itinerary and the group has moved to a different destination, it will be your responsibility to catch up and meet the group at that destination.  We will provide you with the most up-to-date meeting information.  Please note that Globotours cannot reimburse you for any unused portion of the trip.

What is single supplement surcharge?
Single supplement is the additional cost to occupy the room alone.
What is your payment schedule?
Most packages require a non-refundable deposit, as indicated in the program to confirm the reservation, which will be applied towards the cost of your package. Your account balance is due 75-90 days prior to the trip departure date. Certain tours may require an additional non-refundable airline deposit at the time of booking. This is indicated during the booking process. More information can be found in our Terms and Conditions.  
What level of physical fitness is required for the tour?
Depending on the program, expect a decent amount of walking and an occasional flight of stairs or some steps. We recommend you carefully consider your ability to meet the tour's physical demands. If you have any questions or concerns about your ability to meet the trip's requirements, we urge you to consult your medical practitioner.
What types of payments do you accept?
We accept Mastercard and Visa, bank transfers, and personal checks. When paying your balance by personal check, all checks must be received in full prior to the due date. When do I receive my travel documents and what it will include?
Travel documents will be mailed or e-mailed to you approximately 21 days prior to the trip departure date. It usually takes about 7 – 10 business days. You may access your booking confirmation page anytime by logging into your Globotours account on our website.
