WELCOME TO KUALA LUMPUR
On your arrival at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, meet your guide for your transfer to the hotel. The day is free to explore the city at leisure. Kuala Lumpur is a modern cosmopolitan city that has wonderfully kept alive its heritage. See the gleaming modern skyscrapers as well as old colonial buildings. The city’s charm lies in this perfect blend of modernism and its old character, which gives this city a unique color.
KUALA LUMPUR CITY TOUR (B)
In the morning, visit the National Mosque or, in Malay, the Masjid Negara, the most distinguished mosque in Kuala Lumpur. Another must-see is the Tugu Negara, or War Memorial, where we honor those who perished in the war. We will also pass the Moorish-styled Federal Court, the old Railway station, a striking piece of Mohammedan architecture, and the King’s Palace. Visit the Thean Hou Temple in Robson Heights, home to the patron Goddess Thean Hou of the Hainanese community. This unique six-tiered temple is one of the most significant Chinese temples in Southeast Asia. Proceed for a short walk to the Central Market, which showcases the local arts and crafts. After the tour, transfer back to your hotel, and the rest of the day is free at leisure.

Today, enjoy the delicious mix of flavors Kuala Lumpur has by tasting the best of all the cultures that influence its cuisine! First stop at the Chow Kit Market, a mix of everything from fresh fruits and veggies to food stands and clothing. This market will open up your appetite. Go ahead and taste the goodies your guide prepared for you. Next up is trying out three fantastic tastings that are specific to Malaysian cuisine. Start with the famous Nasi lemak, a coconut rice dish that locals eat for breakfast. Don’t be afraid to use your hands and eat it like everybody else in KL! But you’re not quite done with the Malaysian cuisine – your host will take you to taste the satay of your lifetime! Freshly made in front of you, this is a dish to remember! Have a Pisang Goreng, a popular street food snack made out of bananas. As you understand more about the core of Malaysian cuisine, your guide will take you to the next destination. It’s time to try out the Indian flavors. Wonder at the fabulous paper dosa, an Indian classic choice. Enjoy the mini tiffin, a dish with several sauce options, from curry to coconut chutney. Head to the next stops for a taste of the Chinese influences on the very diverse Malaysian cuisine. Start with Curry mee, a spicy curried noodle soup with a variety of toppings. Find out more from your guide about how three cuisines make fantastic food in Kuala Lumpur. You’re in for a treat with Yong tau foo, a Hakka Chinese dish – it’s tofu filled with deliciousness. There is nothing better to finish off your multi-cultural food tour than a glass of Cendol, a creamy dessert made of coconut milk and green starched jelly noodles.
KUALA LUMPUR/MALACCA/SINGAPORE (B/L)
Today, we drive from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore. En route, stop for a city tour in Melaka, a historic port city with Portuguese, Dutch, Chinese, and British influences. We start from the Dutch Square in the heart of the Old Town. Explore the Portuguese-influenced St. Paul’s Church and Porta de Santiago’s mighty fortress, built by the Portuguese in 1512. Continue to Christ Church, built in 1753 in honor of the centenary of the capture of Malacca. Enjoy authentic Peranakan food at lunch. After lunch, see the Cheng Hoon Teng Temple, where three major doctrines of Chinese belief worship under the same roof. Before heading to Singapore, take a stroll along Malacca’s Jonker Street, known for its antiques, souvenirs, arts, and crafts.
Singapore is Southeast Asia’s most modern city and a multi-cultural country with rich Chinese, Malay, and Indian cultures. We explore the city by driving round the Civic District, passing by the Padang, Singapore Cricket Club, historic Parliament House, and the National Gallery Singapore, where the former Supreme Court Building and City Hall sit. Then, stop for a beautiful view of Marina Bay and a photo op of the Merlion statue, Singapore’s mythological figure that’s half-fish, half-lion. Next, visit the century-old Thian Hock Keng Temple, a Buddhist-Taoist temple built to worship Mazu, a Chinese sea goddess. We drive past Chinatown before heading to the National Orchid Garden, home to 60,000 orchids of various colors and hybrids. Our last stop is the neighborhood of Little India. We walk past shops along with the five-footway offering a variety of exotic fruits, spices, jasmine, and orchid garlands. Watch a skillful demonstration of Teh Tarik – pulled tea at a “Sarabat Stall” and sample the tea after with your guide explaining the origins of this all-time local favorite beverage.
Enjoy the afternoon at leisure or spend your afternoon at Clark Quay, Singapore’s riverfront filled with outdoor restaurants and shophouses.
A night out at Marina Bay with dinner: $79 per person (Minimum two participants)
Following dinner, set off to the Gardens by the Bay. Discover exotic plants in the FlowerDome from the five continents displayed in nine different gardens, or walk in the Cloud Forest and marvel at the 114 feet tall indoor waterfall, a mysterious world veiled in mist with and be amazed at the unique and fragile plants. Watch the SuperTree Grove come alive with an exhilarating display of light and sound at night. Enjoy a birds-eye view of the city and Marina Bay from the top of Marina Bay Sand’s Skypark, a roof like no other, perched 656 feet in the air with an observation deck in the clouds (weather permitting).
Transfer to the cruise center for embarkation.
