Our adventure begins from the sprawling metropolis of Kuala Lumpur and tour the city’s best cultural and historic sites before moving onwards to Kota Kinabalu, the Sabah capital on the island of Borneo. Prepare for an incredible journey over the island and to Sandakan, meeting local artisans and coming face-to-face with some of the world’s most incredible creatures, including loveable orangutans. Continue onto Sukau, visit the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Center, where we will have a chance to come face to face with the Orangutan before taking a boat cruise in search of the indigenous birds and the rare Proboscis monkeys. Continue to Danum Valley, with its diverse flora and fauna, and stop by the unique Coffin Cliff and Jacuzzis. Return to the Danum Valley and then back to Kota Kinabalu before the adventure concludes.
ARRIVAL IN KUALA LUMPUR
Arrive at Kuala Lumpur International Airport and meet your guide for your transfer to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure or spend your evening at the night market for tasty street food.
KUALA LUMPUR (B/L)
Our tour of this Malaysian capital starts with a visit to the National Mosque or, in Malay, the Masjid Negara, the most distinguished mosque in Kuala Lumpur. Then we visit the Tugu Negara or War Memorial, a sculpture that commemorates those who died in Malaysia’s struggle for freedom. We will also pass the Moorish-styled Federal Court, the old Railway station, a striking piece of Mohammedan architecture, the Tudor- styled Cricket Club and the King’s Palace. Visit the Thean Hou Temple in Robson Heights, the home to patron Goddess Thean Hou of the Hainanese community. This impressive six-tiered temple is known as one of the most prominent Chinese temples in South East Asia. After lunch, proceed for a short walk to the Central Market, which showcases the local arts and crafts. After the tour, transfer back to your hotel, and the rest of the day is free at leisure.
KUALA LUMPUR/KOTA KINABALU (B)
This morning, we fly to Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia’s Sabah state’s capital in the northern part of Borneo’s island. Upon arrival, transfer to our hotel.
KUDAT BELUD RUNGUS LONGHOUSE & TIP OF BORNEO EXPERIENCE TOUR (B/L)
Uncover the different faces of Sabah by visiting one of the most interesting ‘Tamu’ in Sabah, set in Kota Belud, home to the “Cowboys of the East.” A weekly event, the Kota Belud’ Tamu’ is a colorful melting pot of hawkers, vendors, farmers, fishermen, and cattle breeders alike. You may even glimpse Bajau horsemen in their splendid finery and traditional sword trading. Drive past oil-palm and coconut plantations on our way to Gombizou and Sumangkap villages, and see honey bee farming. Later, visit the longhouse at Bavanggazo village and see where one of Sabah’s indigenous tribes reside. See farmers who gifted artisans and excel in woven basketry and intricate beadwork.

KOTA KINABALU/LAHAD DATU/ DANUM VALLEY (B/L/D)
Leave Kota Kinabalu this morning for your flight to Lahad Datu. On arrival, head inland to Danum Valley and make yourself at home for two-night at a lodge tucked away in the forest. After a brief orientation and lunch, we begin to explore the valley. A guided walk takes you along nature trails and canopy walkways to see the tropical plants and wildlife. Following dinner, set out for a night drive in search of nocturnal animals.

Please note: This tour involves a fair amount of walking, so you will need to have an average fitness level. For your comfort, we recommend wearing good and sturdy walking shoes.
DANUM VALLEY (B/L/D)
Trek along the “coffin trail” to an ancient Kadazandusun burial site at Coffin Cliff. Climb 40 minutes to a magnificent lookout point for a bird’s eye view over the Danum Valley and the Borneo lowland forest, and then return to your lodge for lunch.
DANUM VALLEY/LAHAD DATU/SANDAKAN (B)
This morning, another nature walk takes you along the Segama or Hornbill Trail, through lush rainforest, alongside the river. Later, you will proceed to check-out and depart to Lahad Datu airport for your flight to Sandakan.

Upon arrival at Sandakan Airport, meet our guide and proceed to a Sandakan city tour, covering the central market, water village, and a Buddhist temple. After the tour, transfer to the hotel for a free evening at leisure.
This morning, head to Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Center, established in 1964 for rescued orphaned baby orangutans. Arriving just in time for feeding the world’s largest orangutan rehabilitation center offers you the chance to come face to face with the enormous red apes found naturally only in Borneo and Sumatra. Learn about this loveable primate, its fight for survival, and the efforts in place to save it from extinction. Next, travel by road through the rolling countryside to Sukau, located in the Kinabatangan river basin. A short boat ride takes you to your lodge and spends the afternoon at leisure before going in search of the indigenous birds and the rare Proboscis monkeys on a leisurely cruise down the river.
KINABATANGAN RIVER/OXBOW LAKE (B/L/D)
Rise early for a morning cruise along the Kinabatangan River to the nearby oxbow lake for birdwatching and in search of other wildlife. Weather permitting, we explore the trails alongside the river before returning to the lodge for breakfast. Then, enjoy some time at leisure to explore and absorb the splendor of your surroundings. Later this afternoon, take another cruise along the river to see the many flora and fauna species.
SAKAU DEPARTURE (B)
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
