ARRIVE IN TAIPEI
As you arrive at the Taoyuan International Airport and clear your customs, your driver will meet you in the arrival hall for your transfer to the hotel in the city center.
TAIPEI SIGHTSEEING (B/D)
Gain a deeper insight into Taiwanese religion, history, and culture on our morning tour. See the impressive Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall, built to commemorate late president Chiang Kai-shek. View the excellent example of classical Ming dynasty architecture at the Marty’s Shrine and witness the hourly changing of the guard and discover more about the former president of the Republic of China. Admire the world’s most extensive collection of priceless Chinese imperial artifacts and art treasures at the National Palace Museum. Visit Hsing Tian Kong, a Taoist temple devoted to Guan Yu – God of Justice. Stop at the Grand Hotel in Taipei’s Zhongshan District. The hotel’s main building is one of the world’s tallest Chinese classical buildings and played host to many foreign dignitaries who have visited Taipei.
Taipei truly comes alive at night. Explore the city and take in some of its most exciting sights on a night tour. Begin by visiting the tranquil Lungshan Temple, built in the 18th century by Chinese settlers as a place of worship. We walk through a large, red, palace-style archway to Huaxi Street Night Market, where locals come here for noodles, snake soups, and local snacks and desserts. Then savor a traditional meal of delicious small dumplings at the world-famous Ding Tai Fong Restaurant. After dinner, stop by Taipei 101, also known as the Taipei World Financial Centre. Gaze at this massive skyscraper, the world’s second-tallest building towering 101 stories above the street. Its unique architecture and impressive height have made it a symbol of Taipei.
TAIPEI/KEELUNG CITY/YEHLIU/TAIPEI (B)
Venture to Taiwan’s Northern Coast, visit the harbor city of Keelung, and see the spectacular natural rock formations at Yehliu Natural Park.
TAIPEI/PULI-SUN MOON LAKE (B)
Today, we travel south to Sun Moon Lake, a paradise hidden in the deep jungles and towering hills of Central Taiwan. En route, we stop at Puli town in Nantou county, famed for its natural beauty. We travel through the scenic area around the lake, admire views of boats docked by the lake’s pier and listen to your guide’s informative commentary on local sites as you pass, such as Tehua Village, the local village of aboriginal people. Step off the bus for a shortstop at Wenwu Temple, Tse-En Pagoda, and Holy Monk Shrine.
SUN MOON LAKE/ALISHAN/CHIAYI (B)
After breakfast, board our bus and enjoy a scenic ride along the New Central Cross-Island Highway. On this 2-3 hours drive, soak up the beautiful panoramic views of towering mountain ranges covered with dense forests as you pass Yushan National Park. Visit Alishan National Scenic Area in Chiayi County for a walking tour of its forest. Your guide will tell you the tragic story of the Tsou sister as you stroll along the shore and over the bridge of the Sister Ponds. Enter the Shoujen Pagoda, the park’s largest temple, and marvel at the opulent golden altar and thousands of illuminated miniature Buddhas. In the afternoon, continue our drive to Chiayi city. Take some pictures of the scenic Fenchihu and Rueili villages before arriving at our hotel for a free evening to relax.
CHIAYI/SOUTH BRANCH OF NATIONAL PALACE MUSEUM/TAIPEI (B)
After breakfast, we drive to Taibao City in Chiayi to visit the Southern Branch of the National Palace Museum. The museum’s main building spans more than 50 acres and houses various galleries, such as Buddhist Art, textiles, ceramics, and South Asian Jades. At the end of our tour, return to Taipei with the remainder of the day at leisure.
