Enjoy an incredible journey around the islands of Borneo, one of the world’s greatest ecological treasures. Arrive in Kota Kinabalu, explore the local villages, learn about traditional crafts, and take in the breathtaking view. Continue onto Sandakan, meet the lovable orangutans, learn more about conservation efforts, and then to Sukau, cruising down the river spying birds and monkeys before returning to Kota Kinabalu via Sandakan. From here, it’s on to Kuching, the capital of Sarawak, explore the stunning cultural sites, and pay a visit to the heartwarming Semeggoh Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. Travel on to Batang Ai, and enjoy a cultural performance and a longboat ride before arriving in Kuala Lumpur, where you’ll enjoy a full-day tour of its cultural and historic sites before the journey concludes.
ARRIVAL IN KOTA KINABALU
We arrive at Kota Kinabalu International Airport, then transfer to your hotel, and you will be free at leisure this evening.
FULL DAY KOTA BELUD RUNGUS & TIP OF BORNEO TOUR (B/L)
Uncover the different faces of Sabah by visiting one of the most interesting ‘Tamu’ in Sabah, set in Kota Belud, home to the “Cowboys of the East.” A weekly event, the Kota Belud’ Tamu’ is a colorful melting pot of hawkers, vendors, farmers, fishermen, and cattle breeders alike. You may even glimpse Bajau horse riders in their splendid finery and traditional sword trading. Drive past oil-palm and coconut plantations on our way to Gombizou and Sumangkap villages, and see honey bee farming. Later, visit the longhouse at Bavanggazo village and see where one of Sabah’s indigenous tribes reside. See farmers who gifted artisans and excel in woven basketry and intricate beadwork.

KOTA KINABALU/SANDAKAN/SUKAU (B/L/D)
Early morning transfer to Kota Kinabalu Airport for your flight to Sandakan. Arrive at Sandakan airport and head straight to Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Center, arriving just in time for feeding. The world’s largest orangutan rehabilitation center offers you the chance to come face to face with the giant red apes found naturally only in Borneo and Sumatra. Learn about this loveable primate, its fight for survival, and the efforts in place to save it from extinction. Next, we travel by road through the rolling countryside to Sukau, located in the Kinabatangan river basin. Take a short boat ride to our lodge and spend the afternoon at leisure before going in search of the indigenous birds and the rare Proboscis Monkeys on a leisurely cruise down the river.
KINABATANGAN RIVER/OXBOW LAKE (B/L/D)
Rise early for a morning cruise along the Kinabatangan River to the nearby oxbow lake for birdwatching and in search of other wildlife. Weather permitting, explore the trails alongside the river before returning to the lodge for breakfast. Then, enjoy some time at leisure to explore and absorb the splendor of your surroundings. Later this afternoon, take another cruise along the river in search of wildlife such as birds, mammals, and reptiles. It’s your best chance to see them in their natural habitat.
SUKAU/SANDAKAN/KOTA KINABALU (B/L)
Leave Sukau behind and travel by road to Sandakan, stopping en-route at the giant Gomantong Cave. Take a short walk to the opening cavern and explore the cave system on a boardwalk. Arriving Sandakan, enjoy a brief sightseeing tour of the city, visiting the central market, water village, and a Buddhist temple. In the afternoon, we board our flight to Kota Kinabalu.
KOTA KINABALU/KUCHING (B)
Start our city tour with a scenic drive through its capital, Kota Kinabalu City. The city, formerly known as “Singgahmata” or “the place where the eye lingers,” has risen from the destruction of the last world war to become a vibrant and modern city that still retains its traditional charms. See the Wisma Tun Mustapha (Sabah Foundation Building), City Mosque, and the Sabah Museum. Time permitting, enjoy a short stop at Signal Hill for a panoramic view of the city and visit a local handicraft market. Later, transfer to the airport for your flight to Kuching. Met our representative team and transfer you to the hotel.
KUCHING CITY TOUR/SARAWAK SUNSET RIVER CRUISE (B)
Kuching is a fascinating city with a great many historic buildings and colonial influences. The first stop of our afternoon tour today is the Kuching South City Hall. Take in the view of Fort Margherita from the waterfront, see the futuristic Kuching Civic Centre, and enjoy a panoramic view of the city, the Syariah Muslim Court, traditional Malay houses built on stilts, and the mosque along the riverbank. Winding through the heart of the town with your guide, look out for the majestic Astana, the former palace of the White Rajahs, now the official residence of the Governor of Sarawak. Stop for a few minutes in front of the Old Colonial Courthouse, complete with a clock tower and a granite obelisk built-in memory of the second White Rajah, Charles Brooke. Then visit Sarawak Museum, a treasure house of artifacts and exhibits with archaeological and cultural significance. Enjoy a breathtaking 360° panoramic view of the Kuching skyline on a cruise along the Sarawak River.
KUCHING/SERI AMAN (B/L)
Depart from Kuching to Batang Ai National Park, passing through scenic countryside dotted with villages, paddy fields, pepper, and oil palm plantations. We arrive at Batang Ai hydro lake after lunch. From there, embark on a 30-minute motorized longboat to Nanga Ukom longhouse. Arrive at the longhouse, visit the ‘entire village under one roof.’ After dinner, return to the longhouse and enjoy traditional dancing, music, and sip a glass or two of tuak (rice wine) with the longhouse dwellers. The Ibans are fun-loving people, and you are free to join in.
Please note: You will be spending the night and sleeping in a ruai (longhouse with no air-conditioning) with basic shared facilities.
SERI AMAN/KUCHING/KUALA LUMPUR (B/L)
Wake to the soothing sounds of the jungle chorus and try your hand at the blowpipe demonstration. Then, depart for Kuching and enjoy lunch en-route.
KUALA LUMPUR (B/L)
We start our morning tour with a visit to the National Mosque or, in Malay, the Masjid Negara, the most distinguished mosque in KL. Another must-see is the Tugu Negara or War Memorial to honor those who perished in the war. You will also pass the Moorish-styled Federal Court, the old Railway station, a striking piece of Mohammedan architecture, and the King’s Palace. Visit the Thean Hou Temple in Robson Heights, the home to patron Goddess Thean Hou of the Hainanese community. This unique six-tiered temple is one of the most prominent Chinese temples in South East Asia. After lunch, proceed for a short walk to the Central Market, which showcases the local arts and crafts. After the tour, transfer back to your hotel, and the rest of the day is free at leisure.
KUALA LUMPUR DEPARTURE (B)
This morning, you will free at your leisure until check-out. Later, transfer to the airport for your flight to return home.
