ARRIVE BALI/UBUD (D)
Upon arrival in Bali, meet your driver for your private transfer to your resort in Ubud in the central part of Bali. The duration of the journey takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes of driving. Tonight, enjoy a welcome dinner at your resort.
Ubud is well-known for its diverse and sophisticated art forms, such as painting, sculpture, woodcarving, handcrafting, and performing arts. We will stay for the next three nights at the Alila Ubud. This tranquil and secluded hillside retreat sits high up on the edge of the rich Ayung River valley in Bali’s central foothills, in the traditional Balinese hill village of Payangan.
SUNSET AT ULUWATU TEMPLE (B)
Relax at your resort in the morning. In the afternoon, we explore one of Bali’s leading temples as the sun goes down, a truly spiritual experience! We head to the southwestern tip of the island to visit the 11th century Uluwatu Temple, one of six prominent shrines recognized as one of Bali’s ‘spiritual pillars.’ This magnificent structure is located on a cliff, 229 feet above the sea, with a fantastic panorama, especially as the sun sinks into the ocean.
ART VILLAGES, MONKEY FOREST & RICE TERRACE (B)
Ubud & its neighboring villages are known as the center of Balinese art for centuries. Pick-up by your guide and drive to Batubulan village to see the center of handmade Batik weaving. Next, visit Celuk village to see gold and silversmiths at work. Then, proceed to Mas, the home of Bali’s wood carving crafts. Venture to the Sacred Monkey Forest, where you will see gray macaques roam among Hindu temples in the forest. Stroll through the Ubud Traditional Art Market where you can pick up some local crafts and souvenirs. Our last stop is the Ubud King Palace, where you can walk around to take pictures of the traditional Balinese architecture complex. Return to your hotel en-route, passing through the bountiful Tegalalang Rice Terrace. This afternoon is free at leisure.
