The best way to learn the culture of a destination is through its food. We will have many opportunities to sample Taiwan’s unique cuisine through this 6 days journey. Immerse yourself in the exciting world of Taiwanese culture and cuisine in this 6-day tour. First, a full-day city tour will take you through Taipei’s most popular sites. Begin with the ornately designed Longshan Temple, followed by a visit to Taiwan’s highest authority building, the Presidential Office Building. Next up is Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall, where you can walk up  89 steps to the bronze statue commemorating the former President of Taiwan, before exploring the National Revolutionary Martyrs’ Shrine where you can marvel at the soldiers’ precision at the changing of the guard ceremony. Explore the National Palace Museum, which exhibits the world’s largest and most valuable collection of Chinese art treasures. Next, savor the authentic tastes of Taiwanese cuisine on a fun-filled food tour through Taipei’s vibrant Xinyi District. Enjoy the culinary experience of creating authentic Taiwanese dishes with a popular cooking class before concluding your tour at the Ningxia Night Market to sample some local gourmet snacks.

Itinerary

DAY 01

ARRIVE IN TAIPEI

Upon arrival at Taipei Taoyuan International Airport, you will be met by your driver, as you exit customs into the arrivals hall, and transferred to your hotel where you will be assisted with check-in procedures.

DAY 02

FULL-DAY TAIPEI CITY TOUR (B)

Our Full Day Taipei City tour takes you to visit the most popular sights of Taipei. We begin from the Longshan Temple, Taipei’s oldest and most popular temple, dating back to the early 18th century famed for its fine architectural design. We will stop at the Presidential Office Building for a few photos opportunities. Visit the Impressive Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, in downtown Taipei to pay homage to the late President Chiang Kai-Shek. Travel to Martyrs’ Shrine to see an excellent example of classical Ming Dynasty architecture dedicated to the fallen war heroes of the country and an interesting hourly guard-changing ceremony. Visit the two-century old Lin An Tai Historical Home, a Southern Fujianese-style courtyard and the Grand Hotel, a Chinese Palace-style architecture. Drive through Yangmingshan National Park and stop at a scenic viewpoint (weather permitting) for views of the Seven Star  Mountain (Mt Qixing) and Taipei city below. Then spend about an hour exploring the Thermal Valley, including the Beitou Hot Spring Museum to learn about the region’s bubbling springs. Continue to the  National Palace Museum, which houses the world’s largest and most valuable collection of Chinese art treasures. There are permanent displays of ceramics, bronzes, oracle bones, porcelain, paintings, calligraphy, enamelware, jade, Ching dynasty costume, carvings, and cabinets, as well as temporary exhibitions of other items. End our tour at the lively Shilin Night market famous for various snacks and eatery. Stay as long as you like before making your own way back to your hotel.

DAY 03

XINYI FOOD TOUR (B)

Venture to the street food stalls of a traditional market. Tantalize your taste buds with the best food the market has to offer, from seasonal fruits to piping hot green onion bread. Continue to the back alleys and sample some local favorites small eats (xiao chi), including cold sesame noodles and Taiwanese burgers stuffed with pork belly. Satisfy your appetite with the famous stinky tofu and betel nut. As our walk continues, we will visit an award-winning bakery and finally end the tour with a special Taiwanese icy treat.. Followed by an hour of free time at Taipei 101 shopping mall (observatory ticket is NOT incl.), the world’s second tallest skyscraper.

DAY 04

COOKING CLASS (B/L)

Head to a cooking school for a culinary learning experience. Learn how to make some of Taiwan’s most iconic dishes during a fun and hands-on-workshop. Take a trip to the local wet market to select the fresh ingredients for our cooking class. Learn hands-on experience that incorporates traditional techniques and essential knowledge of Taiwanese cuisine all together. At the end of the cooking class, you will get a chance to sample some of your own creations. After the cooking class, return to your hotel for a free afternoon.

DAY 05

NINGXIA NIGHT MARKET TOUR (B)

Meet the guide at hotel lobby, your local food expert for a tour of the Ningxia Market. Ningxia Night Market serves up many types of mouthwatering Taiwanese small eats such as Deep Fried Taro Balls, Oyster Omelette, sesame chicken, Spring Rolls and Papaya Milk drink. Your local food experts will ensure you taste the best of the best and, when the tour concludes, back to  hotel lobby.

DAY 06

TAIPEI DEPARTURE (B)

Meet your driver at the hotel lobby for your transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
