In Penang, discover interesting historical landmarks in Georgetown named after King George III of England, has one of the largest colonial buildings in South East Asia. Penang also known as one of the world capitals of street food, we will have the opportunity to taste some of the local dishes. Our tour ends in Langkawi, the “Jewel of Kedah” offering beautiful beaches, world- class infrastructure, mangroves rich in flora and fauna and fascinating legends.

Itinerary

DAY 01

ARRIVE KUALA LUMPUR

Upon your arrival, you will be welcomed by our local representative and transfer to the hotel for check in.

DAY 02

KUALA LUMPUR CITY TOUR (B)

Discover the old and the new on this half-day tour which is designed to give you the best possible introduction to this bustling city and immerse yourself in the city’s character and charm. See the city’s most iconic landmarks including the famous Petronas Twin Towers, Sultan Abdul Samad Building and photo stops at King’s Palace and Natinal Mosque. Sit back and enjoy a panoramic drive along the classy streets that reveals the contrasting sights of modern skyscrapers and colonial architecture. Step back in time with a short stop at the National Museum, a fascinating center dedicated to Malaysian history and culture. Later, pick up some souvenirs and chocolates during your visit to a handicraft centre and a local chocolate boutique.

DAY 03

HISTORICAL MALACCA (B/L)

Malacca is a UNESCO heritage site, the historic colonial towns is a living testimony to the multi-cultural heritage of traditional Asia and European colonial influences. Here many battles has been fought to gain control of this strategic base located between the Eastern and Western world leading to the monopoly and control of the lucrative East Indies’ spice trade. When the early European settlers departed, they left behind a treasure trove of historical buildings and landmarks synonymous to Malacca today.

 

Stop at the foothill to view the Sultan’s Well before driving through the Portuguese Settlement. Visit the famous gateway, ‘Porta De Santiago’ and the ruins of St. Paul’s Church lined with 17th century Dutch tombstones.

 

Next stop is ‘Red Square’ – the salmon pink Dutch administrative buildings which today houses the Malacca Museum and government offices. Visit Christ church before proceeding for lunch. After lunch, we visit the ‘Abode Merciful Clouds’ or the Cheng Hoon Teng Temple – the only temple where you can find 3 major doctrines of local Chinese beliefs of Taoism, Buddhism and Confucianism. Lastly, take a stroll along the famous Jonker Street which also houses rows of antique shops Malaccan’s style.

DAY 04

KUALA LUMPUR/PENANG (B)

Hotel check out at the appropriate time and transfer to the airport for your flight to Penang in northwest Malaysia. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel for a free evening.

DAY 05

CITY & HERITAGE TOUR (B)

Georgetown, the capital City of Penang, was named after King George III of England. Take a drive through historical Georgetown to visit the most prominent buildings of the colonial era that are now protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Stop at Fort Cornwallis that once belonged to the English East India Company and where Captain Francis Light first landed in 1786. Next, visit the State Museum, built in 1821 it showcases a fine collection of antiques as well as other historical relics on Penang’s culture and heritage.

 

Enjoy an authentic trishaw ride through the heart of Georgetown and be fascinated by its charming colonial architecture, the modern skyscrapers of bustling Chinatown and all the colors of Little India. Stop at one of the most magnificent clan houses, Khoo Kong Si. The building features intricate carvings and woodwork bearing the mark of master craftsmen from China. Lastly, visit the majestic Thai Buddhist Temple, Wat Chayamangkalaram, which houses one of the world’s largest reclining Buddhas at 108 feet. This gold-plated reclining statue has long fascinated foreign tourists.

*Penang State Museum is closed on Friday and Public Holiday, we will replace the visit to the State Museum with a visit to Chinese clan settlements located at the Chew Jetty.

DAY 06

PENANG FOOD TRAIL TOUR (B)

Tantalise your taste-buds through this food culinary journey. Discover and enjoy the feast of local delicacies ranging from the various ethnic & fusion Malaysian dishes. Dining out in Penang will be a most memorable experience as there are many kinds and varieties of food to cater to different budgets and taste buds dished out and served by Penang’s many popular street hawkers and coffee shops. Visit the Wonderfood Museum  prior to your food trail. The Museum celebrates Penang’s dazzling and tantalizing array of street food and local home cooking. Lookout for the famous street paintings and mural arts that mimic ordinary but captivating moments in the City. Blending humour and historical facts, the wrought iron caricatures’ descriptions are amusing and also knowledge enriching.

DAY 07

PENANG/LANGKAWI (B)

Today, we fly out to Langkawi, an island in the northern part of Peninsular Malaysia, where the Straits of Malacca meet the Indian Ocean. Upon arrival, check-in at our hotel.

DAY 08

LANGKAWI RAINFOREST (B)

Take this golden opportunity to explore and track through Langkawi rain forest. Experience the variety of exotic plants and wild life of one of the oldest jungle in Malaysia. Our experienced nature guide will show you around the many species of trees with some of a height up to 70 meters. Besides the many faunas, insects, birds, butterflies and monkeys, you may get lucky to sight the flying lemur, mouse deer, wild boar ,civet cat or at least one of the 40 species of snakes found on  the island of Langkawi. However, please do note that sighting of any specific types of wildlife in the tropical forest due to its density will be considered a bonus.

DAY 09

BIRD WATCHING  (B)

Langkawi is home to approximately 226 species of birds, of which about one third are migrants. For the serious bird watchers, Langkawi has a rich diversity of ecosystems and habitat types. With its lowland broadleaf rainforest, mangrove forest, reed beds, rice paddies, orchards, scrublands and mudflats, Langkawi is an ideal place to bird watch and take photographs. A significant number of the birds found here are rare and protected species.

LANGKAWI DEPARTURE (B)
