In Penang, discover interesting historical landmarks in Georgetown named after King George III of England, has one of the largest colonial buildings in South East Asia. Penang also known as one of the world capitals of street food, we will have the opportunity to taste some of the local dishes. Our tour ends in Langkawi, the “Jewel of Kedah” offering beautiful beaches, world- class infrastructure, mangroves rich in flora and fauna and fascinating legends.

Itinerary

DAY 01

ARRIVE PENANG

Upon your arrival, you will be welcomed by our local representative and transfer to the hotel for check in.

DAY 02

HISTORICAL GEORGETOWN TOUR (B)

Georgetown, named after King George III of England, is known for its well preserved colonial buildings. Hear stories of the city’s past and present as you drive past its famous landmarks including Fort Cornwallis, Queen Victoria Memorial Clock Tower, Clan Jetty and Street of Harmony where mosque, kovil, temple and church sit along the same short stretch of road. Next, visit the Colonial Penang Museum for a glimpse into the state’s rich heritage and make stops at Wat Chayamangkalaram Siamese temple and Dhammikarama Burmese temple to take in their striking architectural style. Later, pay a visit to a favorite local chocolate shop for an opportunity to browse some of its finest products.

DAY 03

PENANG FOOD TRAIL TOUR (B)

Tantalize your taste-buds through this food culinary journey. Discover and enjoy the feast of local delicacies ranging from the various ethnic & fusion Malaysian dishes. Dining out in Penang will be a most memorable experience as there are many kinds and varieties of food to tantalize your taste-buds through the food culinary journey. Discover and enjoy the feast of local delicacies ranging from the various ethnic & fusion Malaysian dishes served by Penang’s many popular street hawkers and coffee shops. Visit the Wonderfood Museum prior to your food trail. The Museum celebrates Penang’s dazzling and tantalizing array of street food and local home cooking. Lookout for the famous street paintings and mural arts that mimic ordinary but captivating moments in the City. Blending humor and historical facts, the wrought iron caricatures’ descriptions are amusing and also knowledge enriching.

DAY 04

PENANG/KUALA LUMPUR (B)

Hotel check out at the appropriate time and transfer to the airport for your flight to Kuala Lumpur, the Malaysia’s capital. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel for a free evening.

DAY 05

KUALA LUMPUR CITY TOUR (B)

Discover the old and the new on this half-day tour which is designed to give you the best possible introduction to this bustling city and immerse yourself in the city’s character and charm. See the city’s most iconic landmarks including the famous Petronas Twin Towers, Sultan Abdul Samad Building and photo stops at King’s Palace and National Mosque. Sit back and enjoy a panoramic drive along the classy streets that reveals the contrasting sights of modern skyscrapers and colonial architecture. Step back in time with a short stop at the National Museum, a fascinating center dedicated to Malaysian history and culture. Later, pick up some souvenirs and chocolates during your visit to a handicraft center and a local chocolate boutique.

DAY 06

HERITAGE OF MELAKA TOUR (B/L)

Malacca is a UNESCO heritage site, the historic colonial towns is a living testimony to the multi-cultural heritage of traditional Asia and European colonial influences. Here many battles has been fought to gain control of this strategic base located between the Eastern and Western world leading to the monopoly and control of the lucrative East Indies’ spice trade. When the early European settlers departed, they left behind a treasure trove of historical buildings and landmarks synonymous to Malacca today.

 

Stop at the foothill to view the Sultan’s Well before driving through the Portuguese Settlement. Visit the famous gateway, ‘Porta De Santiago’ and the ruins of St. Paul’s Church lined with 17th century Dutch tombstones.

Next stop is ‘Red Square’ – the salmon pink Dutch administrative buildings which today houses the Malacca Museum and government offices. Visit Christ church before proceeding for lunch. After lunch, we visit the ‘Abode Merciful Clouds’ or the Cheng Hoon Teng Temple – the only temple where you can find 3 major doctrines of local Chinese beliefs of Taoism, Buddhism and Confucianism. Lastly, take a stroll along the famous Jonker Street which also houses rows of antique shops Malaccan’s style.

DAY 07

KUALA LUMPUR/LANGKAWI (B)

Today, we fly out to Langkawi, an island in the northern part of Peninsular Malaysia, where the Straits of Malacca meet the Indian Ocean. Upon arrival, check-in at our hotel.

DAY 08

LANGKAWI MANGROVES, ROCKY CLIFFS & RIVER CRUISE (B)

Take a river cruise to discover the maze of 450-million-year limestone formations and tangled mangroves that constitute the Kilim Geoforest Park, home to some of nature’s best-kept secrets. The mangrove forest seems to be an endless green and silent world, but it is rich in wildlife and you will have the chance to spot the animals that live in this coastal environment.

Learn about the park’s history, geology and wildlife from your knowledgeable guide and take in the natural beauty of the area, which is also home to the highest density of eagles. Explore an ancient cave filled with bats, stalagmites and stalactites and pause to have your lunch at a floating fish farm restaurant. Weather permitting, stop and relax at a secluded beach backed by rocky cliffs, formed after centuries of erosion. Lunch is included.

DAY 09

LANGKAWI (B)

Enjoy a free for relaxation.

 

Optional tour: Half-day Bird Watching Tour – Langkawi is home to approximately 226 species of birds, of which about one third are migrants. For the serious bird watchers, Langkawi has a rich diversity of ecosystems and habitat types. With its lowland broadleaf rainforest, mangrove forest, reed beds, rice paddies, orchards, scrublands and mudflats, Langkawi is an ideal place to bird watch and take photographs. A significant number of the birds found here are rare and protected species.

LANGKAWI DEPARTURE (B)
