DAY 03

ENCHANTING UBUD (B/L)

Spend a full day exploring the best of Ubud, Bali’s cultural heart, and discover inspiring views, traditional homes, cheeky wildlife, and intricate arts and crafts. The first stop is at Batuan village to visit a traditional Balinese house to understand its unique architectural traditions. According to the Hindu religion, every object in the universe has an ideal location to gain harmony. Therefore the family shrines, kitchen, rice barn and other rooms are designed and placed according to these principles. Drive further north to the iconic rice terraces of Tegallalang, where lush green paddies create a stunning patchwork on the side of the hills. Hear about the ancient Balinese Subak system that is used to distribute the water so that all the farmers can irrigate their fields. If you wish, take a short walk through the intricately designed terraces. Visit Puri Saren Ubud Palace, the home of the local royal family. It stands in the heart of the town and is built in the style of a traditional family compound. Take a walk through the nearby Ubud Market among the colorful stalls of wood carvings, textiles and souvenirs. After lunch, continue to Puri Lukisan Museum the oldest art museum in Bali. Here you can admire an array of contemporary paintings and wood carvings from prominent Balinese artists. Finally, visit Ubud Monkey Forest, a sanctuary for the malevolent but photogenic long tail macaques. Walk through the forest and temple where mischievous monkeys roam freely. On the far side of the forest, the car will be waiting to drive you back to the hotel.

DAY 06

BALI FOODIE HEAVEN (B/D)

Join an expert foodie on a culinary journey to experience the aromas and flavors of Bali. In the late afternoon meet your specialist guide and drive to Denpasar, the capital of the island. Stop for a glass of Air Tebu, a refreshing sweet drink made from freshly squeezed sugarcane straight from the plant. The next stop is at a home factory to see how the famous Indonesian cookies, known as Pie Susu, are made. A tasting of these delicious cookies will soon reveal why they are so popular. Take a walk around the market in Badung to see the unusual herbs, spices, vegetables and fruits that are on display. Your guide will tell you the names and explain how they are used in Indonesian cooking. There is even the chance to try some of the fresh fruits and colorful Indonesian cakes. End the evening at a warung, an authentic local restaurant, to experience a traditional Nasi Campur. This banquet style meal consists of many rich and exotic Indonesian specialties accompanied by rice, and is the ideal way to try out the local cuisine. After helping yourself to the many dishes on offer, end the evening with a delicious local dessert.

DAY 07

TANAH LOT AND RICE FIELD DINNER (B/D)

Tuck into the many dishes of a romantic rijsttafel dinner in a traditional Balinese pavilion surrounded by rice fields. Late afternoon drive to the stunning coastal Tanah Lot temple located on a rock island in the sea. Without a doubt the most famous and photographed place in Bali, this sacred Hindu temple sits majestically on a large offshore rock which has been shaped over the years by the crashing waves of the surrounding sea. After photographing the views of the temple exterior and the unusual rock formations, drive to nearby Mengwi for a romantic Balinese dinner. On arrival make your way through the rice field along a path illuminated by flaming torches. The flickering lights lead you to a traditional Balinese pavilion that overlooks a small river and the surrounding rice paddies. Take a seat at the table and relax while the waiter brings the many dishes of a traditional rijsttafel. This elaborate meal, adapted by the Dutch colonial plantation owners, consists of flavourful Indonesian dishes accompanied by rice. To further compliment the meal you will be served a bottle of chilled Tunjung Brut, a sparkling Balinese wine produced from Indonesian grapes in a Balinese vineyard.

DAY 08

SEMINYAK AT LEISURE (B)

Spend your day at leisure. The resort is a short stroll from the fashionable streets of Seminyak, where you can indulge in the up market attractions that have made Seminyak one of the hottest destinations on the island. Here, high-end designer boutiques, art and antique galleries rub shoulders with trendy nightspots, fine dining establishments and uber chic cafes, including notably happening hangouts such as Ku De Ta, La Lucile and Potato Head.
