This journey's highlights include a visit to the extensive rainforest of Batang Ai National Park, a jungle walk with the local Ibans, cultural enrichment at the Ugat Sea Dayak Longhouses, and the famous Sarawak Museum. Itinerary
DAY 01 MON - DEPART HOMETOWN/SINGAPORE
Today board your flight to Singapore
DAY 02 TUE - ARRIVE SINGAPORE
You arrive in Singapore and transfer to your hotel where you can relax and get adjusted to your new surroundings.
DAY 03 WED - SINGAPORE (AB)
A morning city tour showcases the contrast between old and new and the blend of East and West. You will drive pass the colonial district for a view of Padang, the Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay, and the Merlion, Singapore's own original mythical beast consisting of the head of a lion and the body of a fish. Continue to Little India and Chinatown. You will then stop at a Gem factory to admire the best of Asian craftsmanship. Afterwards, marvel at the Botanic Gardens, famed for it's 130 acres of primarily jungle and garden. This afternoon is free to explore the city as you wish.
DAY 04 THU - SINGAPORE (AB)
Explore the city as you wish. Perhaps, make it a day for relaxation and pamper yourself at one of Asia's biggest outdoor spas and enjoy a massage in a lush garden setting.
DAY 05 FRI - SINGAPORE/KUCHING (SARAWAK) (AB)
Fly to Kuching, the capital of Sarawak. Upon arrival, check-in to your hotel.
DAY 06 SAT - KUCHING (SARAWAK) (AB)
Morning city tour takes you to the gigantic Cat Statue - the city's mascot; the Kuching Waterfront; Tua Pek Kong Temple built in 1876; the beautiful Fort Margherita from 1879; and the former residence of the White Rajah, the Astana. You will also visit the Sarawak Museum which is acknowledged as one of the world’s finest. During the tour, pass by a Malay village on the way to old Gambier Spice Street known for their open-air weekend market.
DAY 07 SUN - KUCHING/BATANG AI (SARAWAK) (AB/L/D)
Today embark on your Batang Ai Tour, 166 miles from Kuching City. Along the way you will pass through scenic countryside consisting of quaint little towns, villages, pepper and oil palm plantations. This journey is interspersed with secondary and virgin jungle as the road starts to wind and undulate as you go deeper into the interior. Upon arrival at the Jetty you will board a motorized native longboat to Mengkak Longhouse. The trip will take you across the lake into the Engkari River, one of the many tributaries flowing into the lake. The journey will take approximately 30 to 40 minutes before reaching Mengkak Longhouse. Later you will be treated to a blow pipe demonstration.
DAY 08 MON - BATANG AI/KUCHING (SARAWAK) (AB/L)
After breakfast, journey back to Kuching where you will be transfered to your hotel for check-in.
DAY 09 TUE - KUCHING/HOMETOWN (AB)
Transfer to the airport for your flight home.
